Click 'Menu', select 'Help', in the pop-up window, scroll to the mission (or zone) you are in and click it. The Wiki on that place will come up. Read it.

You're still in the very early stages of the first game. Follow the main quest for a little while and you'll be able to move forward (without spoiling anything; there's a time jump) to where everyone else is. Granted, there aren't tons of people interested in the low level content but you'll get a better idea of the scope of the game. Before you leave though, you can feel free to just run around and do as many quests as you like. You'll generally reach level 6-8 this way.

Unless some other games, this game is very well designed in the way that it is almost impossible to make mistakes that can't be easily corrected.

This was about as helpful as being at the bus stop and asking another waiting passenger when the bus comes, and them replying with; "Take out your mobile phone, dial 905.639.0550, press 1, then 1, then 3, and then wait for the automated system to give you the times because even though I ride this bus every day I don't feel like telling you"

Edit: Not so much a jab at Hans, but more or less the "Wiki it" philosophy.

The Hall of Monuments can be reached by traveling to the outpost Eye of the North when you are lvl 10 in Lions Arch, if you own the expansion Eye of the North. Inside the Hall you can get points for gw2 by placing various items/titles there.
